Been on the road a bit lately, but it was good to arrive home to my family and a neat black and white spread in the latest Surfing World magazine. It's on the news stands now if your interested in getting a copy. Just got back from WA and had a pretty amazing session with Mick Short. Keep an eye out for an update here and a few images in SW and maybe even Coastalwatch.

Anyway, I am back from Bells after a distinct lack of swell, I am getting ready for Indo and have a new toy in the form of a Canon Powershot S90 and I am pretty excited about it. This shot of my Daughter Jazz is one of the first frames out of the little thing. It fits in my pocket and it shoots images like this. I think I have a new favourite camera.

Well, the swell from Ului seems to have been way to north to get anywhere near Sydney or the South Coast. A few larger than of late sets showed up late today, although nothing of quality to talk about. Lets just hope that the damage is kept to a minimum in Northern Queensland.

Looks like the Cat. 5 Tropical Cyclone Ului will spit swell all the way from Agnes Waters to Tasmania's east coast at this stage. It has been a long while since seeing the coral sea light up with this much activity. With two cyclones (Tomas is the smaller storm) generating swell at the same time and some forecasts for Ului to track south rather than make land could mean swell could reach as far as Tasmania. Good news for surf, let's just hope it doesn't track west at all and harm anyone or demolish anything.

So the waves have been pretty shit the last couple of days and I have the family with me, so what to do on the glorious Gold Coast? Go to Sea World that's what. My Daughter Jazz was so excited that she didn't take a breath the entire drive from Cooly to Surfers and I think Marli was just happy to get the hell out of the car. Anyway we had an amazing time and Jazz pretty much blitzed it, going on water slides by herself for the first time, and Marli learnt how to stand on my hands in the pool and act like a dolphin. Worth every last penny, every last one of them.

Oh and this, I think, is the first time I have blogged images from my phone.

Well I am up at Lennox Head shooting 'Project Air' and have been having a ball launching off the custom built ramp into the foam pit. Mick Fanning, Jordy Smith, Sally Fitzgibbons and the rest of the elite surf team are here training with the sports team from Red Bull and aside from dud weather it has been pretty awesome, and when the sun finally popped out everyone had a go at the air training on the skate ramp.
